Mr. Maione is a trial lawyer who has obtained favorable results in both criminal and civil matters in state and federal courts in Illinois and across the country. In the criminal arena, Mike recently delivered opening statements and cross-examined witnesses in a federal insider trading jury trial that resulted in Not Guilty verdicts on all seven counts of the indictment. He has also helped clients successfully navigate criminal investigations and pretrial motion practice. Mike’s appellate experience includes direct appeals, habeas petitions, and petitions for writs of certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also delivered oral argument to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Mike’s civil practice covers a wide variety of subject matters and jurisdictions. His primary focus is commercial disputes, including claims for breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, tortious interference, and misappropriation of trade secrets. Mike has also handled antitrust, employment, toxic tort, and civil rights matters. Mike’s work in civil cases has yielded favorable outcomes for clients at every stage of litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Mike clerked for the Hon. John Kness of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Mike also worked as an associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP from 2016 to 2020.
